Sorry Cubase users even of the latest version. Below is the long awaited unfortunate answer to the question of questions from courtesy of a support engineer w/ Akai who will remain un named - See our support chat below.
Akai must want us Cubase users or users of other daws that don't support routing of audio to vst instruments to get maschine too. Cubase user's were blessed w/ the ability to route audio to vst3.0 spec plugins, which many developers have adopted.. I just confirmed that w/ 2.0 release of MPC, Akai is not 1 of those developers..
Wondering if I should just sell and wait for maschine to implement live looping and lazy chop of live audio..
Stan jacob
Does the new MPC 2.0 release include a ver 3.0 plugin or at least an accompanying vst 2.0 'vst effect' (not vsti) so that I can route audio into the mpc while in my DAWs ssuch as Cubase that don't support routing audio to vsti's???

thx did you get my question?
akai support rep
I think I understand
You want to be able to route audio from Cubase to the MPC as a plugin?
Stan jacob
Cubase is my DAW. I need to be able to setup mpc plugin on a track and route audio into it..correct
akai support rep
Ok, just one moment
Stan jacob
Unfortunately, the prior version of mpc had not embraced Steinbergs vst 3.0 specs which allow routing of audio to vsti's. The workaround to this, as implemented by vsti plugins such as NI Maschine, was to include a vst-fx dll that installs alongside the vsti.allowing users of DAWS w/ out audio to vsti to sample. Therefore, in a nutshell, at the very list, if the full vst 3.0 spec is not supported at this point, I would have at least expected a vst-fx version of MPC so that I could put mpc on an audio track in Cubase and and sample by routing audio in.
akai support rep
O ok now I understand better
So you want to be able to load it on an instrument track
Stan jacob
I can already do that without problems in Cubase. the problem comes in when I need to route audio into the mpc because cubase does not support routing of audio into vst instruments that follow the vst 2.0 specification, which is why I'm wondering if vst3.0 spec has been introduced in the new 2.0 release or, if now, there's a vstfx plugin alongside the mpc vsti
akai support rep
Oh ok I understand
No, these are not VST 3.0
nor is there a vstfx plugin with the vsti
Stan jacob
Jeez. that's a shame
I requested that in your forum. So cubase users basically can't get audio into your sampler.

We can only pass along feature request but no guarantee they will be implemented.
That doesn't mean it won't be considered in the future
Stan jacob
No, I get it but that's just.. :(
Stan jacob
..b/c this took sooo long and considering that the competition caters to all DAW platforms. It's SUPER frustrating b/c vst3 is now included in most new plugins. Now we have to burden our processors with a workaround routing effects, which are few and far between, and at this point in the game, this should have been covered. NI Maschine does this out of the box. Not to blame you personally though.

With the release they really wanted to make sure the software was stable across all the MPC hardware

The products are different
I understand you want every feature
We ultimately want to give you the best workflow
Stan jacob
Sorry to harp. RE: the products are different... I'm not denying that, but so are the kronos and motif, but they're used for the same thing - to play keys!

So with implementing completely standalone hardware
Other features may be revisited in the future.

mpc is a sampler, midi production studio, and pretty much a daw - its a flexible system, but they just left us out man - dang. Thanks for your help

Also, They need update their looper interface such that a new 'VISIBLE' lane is added for each pass. When your run out of space, a scroll bar should be presented. The user should then be able to add each take to a pad or an audio track
